My story is one of perseverance and purpose. Born in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti, I built my life in the United States and became a trailblazer in Florida politics. As the first Haitian-American elected to the State Senate, I’ve had the honor of breaking barriers and inspiring countless others in my community to lead with integrity and determination.
My legislative record speaks for itself. I stood firmly against budget cuts in education, helped secure critical funding for underserved communities, and worked to reform the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) system—advocating for less pressure and more meaningful evaluation in schools.
I also fought for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) extensions for immigrants, showing my unwavering support for vulnerable populations. Every decision I made was grounded in listening to those I served. I’ve always believed that real leadership comes from community connection—and my legacy is defined by the people whose lives were improved because I stood up for them.4o mini
